As a mature Blackbelt, I took up Taekwondo in my 40s because as a parent I was down watching my son train and compete, so I decided if I was down there why not train. I enjoy the family feel of the club and get a lot out of passing my years of experience to the young & old. I believe in training hard & getting the students to challenge themselves, which gives them the confidence to achieve whatever they wish.

I started training in the UK in 2003 and continued here in NZ on arrival in 2005, gaining my 1st Dan Blackbelt in 2009 with the Chch Olympic Club. After a few years, I left the sport to concentrate on life skills returning in 2019 when I was asked to help form Selwyn Taekwondo Club. I am hoping to grade for my 2nd Dan soon.

After watching my big brother travelling the country and gaining his 1st Dan I decided this is what I wanted to do. So in 2012, I started training at the Rolleston TKD Club wherein 2017 I also gained my 1st Dan Blackbelt. With the closure of Rolleston TKD Club, it was decided that along with my Brother Nat and my friend Fitz we would carry the sport of Taekwondo on in the area with the brand new Selwyn Taekwondo Club and now my goal is to gain my 2nd Dan.
